City Parish, DoJ host community conversations on policing
The City of Baton Rouge Parish of East Baton will host community conversations to discuss and review police policy on Nov. 1 and Nov. 3 at 6pm in the Raisin Cane’s River Center, Exhibition Hall, meeting room 9.Â
Organizers said the public will provide recommendations for a community action plan. Discussions will be led and facilitated by Synthia Taylor, regional director for the Department of Justice Community Relations Service âSouthwest Region.
âThis is an opportunity to enhance community relations and develop more resources as we strive to continue to improve community policing,â said Mayor Kip Holden. âWe welcome the publicâs input on these very important topics.â
Topics include community policing, police accountability, body cameras, police civil service rules as well as training, recruitment, retention, residency requirements, and pay incentives.
