Blues Camp III returns to the Henry Turner Jr. Listening Room in Baton Rouge
The free program is held every Saturday, through March 23, from noon to 1:30pm for musicians of all ages
Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room Museum Foundation is hosting Blues Camp III. The free program is held every Saturday, through March 23, from noon to 1:30pm
Separated into one-and-a-half-hour sessions, the musical workshop consists of a half hour of blues structure and instrumentation, a half hour of history and syntax, and a half hour of entertainment business applications and lectures.
Blue Camp III is open to all ages. Participants can attend in person at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room, 2733 North Street, Baton Rouge, or through Facebook.
The Blues Camp III is a follow-up from 2020 and 2022 successful programming that featured instruction by musician and entrepreneur Henry Turner Jr. using his songs the “Baton Rouge Theme Song" and “Going to Louisiana.”
The jazz/blues song this year is “Swinging in the Room.”
Guests include Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor band members, drummer Jim Masters, keyboardist Irwin “Maestro” Foste,r and bassist King Solomon. Special guests are entertainment business executives Eric Cager, co-founder of the Cutting Edge Music Business Conference, journalist Hedi Butler, former editor of Black Radio Exclusive, publicist Marcia Groff, spoken word artist Kelton ‘Nspire Harper and Kevin White, former touring musician Chris Thomas King.
